Al-Zahra University for Women Achieves Advanced Ranking in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking for 2025
Al-Zahra University for Women has achieved an advanced position in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking for 2025, securing the 418th global rank among the universities listed in this international classification. This achievement reflects the high level of effort undertaken by the University in promoting sustainability practices and implementing environmental management standards in accordance with accredited global frameworks.
On the local front, the University achieved a prominent presence, ranking 12th among all Iraqi governmental and private universities included in the ranking, and 5th among private universities.
This accomplishment is attributed to a set of developmental measures adopted by the University in recent years. These measures included updating energy systems to improve consumption efficiency and reduce emissions, enhancing water and waste management through the implementation of advanced systems for conservation, treatment, and reuse, and expanding green spaces to reinforce the sustainable environmental identity of the campus.
